Being a stay-at-home mom is a demanding full-time job. Despite your already full program, you may want to start working again, but can’t manage a full time job and your household at the same time.

Is there an alternative?  My answer is yes. Having been a stay at home mom myself, I’m here to help you find all kinds of online jobs to start contributing to family income and feel accomplished.

There are so many different kinds of online work you might find on the internet, but the truth is, not so many can provide a steady income. I don’t want you to waste your precious time on efforts that will disappoint you. For example, taking online surveys is a waste of your time.

When I say ‘work from home’, I’m talking about scalable jobs. About building your own online business, starting from scratch today and growing it year after year.

I believe in investing our time wisely today, so that after a decade we can look back and feel proud of the steps we took when we were younger.

In this post, I’m sharing 5 types of work any mommy can do from home, even if all you have during the day are a couple of hours.

So let’s dive in.

No 1: Proofreading

One of my favourite ways you can earn money while staying home with your kids is through proofreading. If you have an eye for spelling mistakes and you easily catch errors when you read an article, you can become a proof-reader.

A proof-reader meticulously reviews written content to identify and correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and formatting.

Your primary goal will be to ensure that the text is clear, consistent, and free of mistakes before it is published or distributed.

Proof-readers examine every word and sentence, comparing the text against established language rules, style guides, or specific client preferences. They pay attention to details such as typos, grammatical inconsistencies, word choice, and overall coherence to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the written material.

Additionally, they may offer suggestions for improving clarity, coherence, and readability while respecting the author’s voice and intended message.

If you have a keen eye for detail and linguistic expertise you can contribute to producing error-free and polished written content across various mediums, including books, articles, reports, websites, and marketing materials.

There are many courses (free and paid) to help you learn the basics and get started. Its biggest advantage is time flexibility.

No 2: Open an Etsy Shop

Open an Etsy Shop. As you already know I’ve been selling digital products on Etsy for a couple of years and although I don’t make a full time income from that, I am determined to stick with it.

I believe if you have a talent in crafts like crocheting or making jewellery, you can open an Etsy shop and promote your products to the world. If you don’t work with your hands, but have some background on designing with software, there’s also a huge market for digital products. Such as templates, planners, digital art. So depending on your skills and what you like, you can choose a niche and start creating.

Opening an Etsy shop is a pretty straightforward process. As long as you provide high quality products and services to your customers, you have high chances of becoming successful.

It’s not easy and not everyone makes it. SEO and marketing your shop are very important too.

No 3: Writing

If you like expressing yourself through writing, there are numerous ways you can start monetizing your writing skills.

You can start your own blog and write about your personal experiences. Or you can provide valuable information about a certain topic you feel you have mastered in your life. But even if you feel like you are not an expert in something specific, you can always share your journey to achieve financial independence. People prefer real stories. They feel more relatable. Your struggles, your efforts even if not successful can be an inspiration for people in similar situations. You don’t want to appear as something you are not.

In a society full of fake gurus, honesty can attract a loyal audience.

If maintaining your own blog is too much for you, you can write on other peoples’ blogs or on platforms like medium.

Freelancing is also an option.

No 4: Virtual Assistant

You can become a virtual assistant. As more and more people build their own small online businesses, they are in need of assistants. What does a Virtual Assistant do?

A virtual assistant (VA) provides remote administrative, technical, or creative assistance to businesses or entrepreneurs from a remote location.

Your responsibilities typically include tasks such as managing emails, scheduling appointments, handling customer inquiries, updating databases, conducting research, creating presentations, and managing social media accounts.

VAs use various communication tools and software to collaborate with their clients effectively, ensuring seamless workflow and productivity.

By taking care of routine tasks, a VA allows their clients to focus on core aspects of their business, ultimately saving time and increasing efficiency. It is a versatile and adaptable role, catering to the specific needs of each client or business you support.

No 5: Pinterest Assistant

If you love using Pinterest, you can become a Pinterest Assistant.

You will mainly specialize in managing and optimizing Pinterest accounts for businesses or individuals.

Your responsibilities typically include tasks such as creating and curating visually appealing pins, designing pin graphics, scheduling pins for optimal times, conducting keyword research for Pinterest SEO, analysing Pinterest analytics to track performance.

You will have to engage with followers and implement strategies to grow the reach and engagement of the Pinterest account.

You may also collaborate with clients to develop Pinterest marketing strategies aligned with their overall business goals, such as driving traffic to their website, increasing brand awareness, or promoting products and services.

Overall, a Pinterest Assistant helps clients leverage the power of Pinterest as a marketing platform to enhance their online presence and achieve their business objectives.

To sum up

We are blessed to live in an era where it is possible to work from home, set our own hours and rates and prioritize our families first.

A 9-5 job may not be an option for you right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t work 3-4 hours per day and make a contribution to your family’s finances.

You will also learn so much technical stuff and build your skillset, which will be very useful if you ever decide to work for a company one day.

Work and family life balance is hard to achieve, but not impossible. Other mommies have done it. Why not you.
